Herbed Rice

1 large onion, chopped
1 tablespoon of butter or margarine
1/2 teaspoon of dried whole basil
1/4 teaspoon of dried whole thyme
3 cups of hot water
1 1/2 cup of uncooked regular rice
3/4 cup of minced fresh parsley
1 1/2 teaspoon of onion salt

Combine onion, butter, basil and thyme in a 3 quart casserole. Cover with heavy duty plastic wrap and microwave on high for 3 minutes or until onion is tender. Stir in remaining ingredients, cover and microwave on high for 5 minutes. Reduce to medium (50 % power) and microwave for 20 to 23 minutes, or until liquid is absorbed. Let stand for 4 to 5 minutes. Fluff rice with a fork. Yield: 6 servings
