Cherry Chiffon Pie

1 (3 oz.) pkg. cherry Jell-O
1/2 c. hot water
1 can cherry pie filling
3 egg whites
1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
1/3 c. sugar
1/2 pt. whipping cream
2 pie shells
 

Dissolve cherry Jell-O in hot water. Add cherry pie filling. Beat egg whites. Add cream of tartar and beat until fluffy. Gradually add sugar and continue beating until stiff peaks form. Fold egg whites into cherry filling. Beat whipping cream and fold into mixture. Spoon mixture into baked pie shells and chill until well set.
