| Old Fashioned Applesauce Cake 3
2 1/2 cups of flour 1 3/4 cup of sugar 1/4 teaspoon of baking powder 1 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda 1 1/2 teaspoon of salt 1 teaspoon of cinnamon 1/2 teaspoon of cloves 1/2 teaspoon of allspice 1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg 1/2 cup of shortening 3 eggs 1 cup of seedless raisins 1 3/4 cup of applesauce |
| Preheat oven to 350ºF. Grease and flour 9 x 13 inch pan. Sift flour, sugar, baking powder, soda, salt and spices into large bowl. With electric mixer, add shortening and applesauce, beat at low speed to combine. At medium speed beat for 2 minutes. Add eggs. Beat 2 more minutes. Fold raisins into batter. Turn batter into prepared pan. Bake 45 minutes or until cake tester comes out clean. Cool cake in pan on wire rack. Serves 8. Old Fashioned Applesauce Cake
1/2 cup of Crisco (solid) 1/2 cup of butter 2 cups of white sugar 2 eggs 1 cup of applesauce 1 cup of raisins 1 teaspoon of soda 1/2 teaspoon of salt 1 teaspoon of cinnamon 1 teaspoon of cloves 1 teaspoon of nutmeg 2 1/4 cups of sifted flour 1 cup of black walnuts
Cream shortening and sugar until light. Add eggs and beat until fluffy. Add spices, soda, salt and applesauce. Beat together for 2 minutes. Add nuts and blend well. Put on stem cake pan, greased and floured. Bake at 350ºF. for 1 hour. |
