Southern Okra Rice

3 - 4 slices of Bacon; chopped
1 pint of Okra
1 cup of washed rice
Salt and pepper to taste
1 cup of water

Recipe from Charleston Receipts Fry bacon with okra cut in rings When okra is tender, add rice, water, salt and pepper. Put in rice steamer and cook until dry about 1 1/2 hours. Serves 4-6
