2 packages of dry yeast 1/2 cup of warm water 1 1/2 cup of milk 2 tablespoons of sugar 1 1/2 teaspoon of salt 2 eggs 1/4 cup of shortening 5 1/2 cups of flour | |
Dissolve yeast in warm water. Stir in milk, sugar, salt, eggs, shortening and flour. Beat until smooth. Cover; let rise in warm place about 1 hour. Stir down batter. Pour into a greased tube pan 10 x 4 inches. Let rise to within 1 inch of top of pan, about 45 minutes. Bake 45-50 minutes at 350ºF. |
