| Lemon Bread
1/2 cup of shortening 1 cup of sugar 2 eggs 1 lemon 1 1/2 cup of flour 1 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder 1/2 teaspoon of salt 1/2 cup of milk | |
Cream shortening and sugar. Blend in eggs. Sift flour, baking powder and salt. Mix together creamed ingredients, sifted ingredients and milk. Blend in 1/2 cup chopped nuts and the rind (grated) of the lemon. Pour into greased and floured bread pan and bake at 350ºF. for 45 to 50 minutes. Squeeze the juice from lemon and mix well with 1/2 cup sugar. Once the bread is done, punch holes in bread while warm and pour lemon juice and sugar mixture over it. |
