AUSTRIAN POPPY SEED CAKE
2 1/4 cups of sugar 3 eggs 1 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla 1 1/2 teaspoon of almond extract 1 1/3 cup of oil 1 1/2 cup of milk 1 1/2 teaspoon of butter extract
Mix together until smooth with rotary blender. Add: 1 1/2 teaspoon of salt 1 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder 2 tablespoons of poppy seeds |

Beat until mixed. The batter will be thin and runny. Pour into 2 greased and floured bread pans. Bake in 350ºF. oven for 1 hour or until toothpick comes out clean.
GLAZE: 1/4 cup of orange juice 3/4 cup of sugar 1/2 teaspoon of butter extract 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla 1/2 teaspoon of almond extract
Bring all ingredients to a rolling boil. Dribble with spoon over hot cake slowly. Let sit in pan to absorb glaze. Run a knife around pan to release cake from sides. Remove cake when cool. Freezes great! |
