1 cup plus 2 tablespoons of butter 1 1/3 cup of sugar 1 teaspoon of grated lemon peel 6 egg yolks 1 1/2 tablespoon of dark rum 1 teaspoon of vanilla 2 1/2 cup of flour 2 teaspoons of baking powder 6 egg whites
Preheat oven to 350ºF. Cream the butter, sugar and lemon peel. Beat in yolk, one at a time and continue beating until smooth. Stir in rum and vanilla. Sift together flour and baking powder. Add to butter mixture. Beat egg whites separately and fold into batter. Pour into buttered and floured 9 inch tube pan. Bake 50 minutes or until done. Cool 10 minutes. Slice cake into three layers. Fill and frost with whipped cream or butter cream. Press crushed pralines over sides and top if you wish.
