Dog Biscuits 2
2 1/2 cups of whole wheat flour 1/2 teaspoon of salt 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder 1 egg, beaten 1/2 cup of ice water 1/2 cup of powdered dry milk 6 tablespoons of margarine 1 teaspoon of brown sugar |

Preheat oven to 350ºF. Combine the flour, dry milk, salt and sugar. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles cornmeal. Mix in egg. Add enough water so that mixture forms a ball. Pat out dough 1/2-inch thick with fingers on a lightly oiled cookie sheet. Cut with a Dog-Bone Cookie Cutter and remove scraps. Pat out scraps and proceed as before. Bake 25-30 minutes. 3 1/2 cups of flour 2 cups of whole wheat flour 2 cups of rye flour 2 cups of cracked wheat 1/2 cup of wheat germ 1/2 cup of dry nonfat milk 2 teaspoons of salt 1 package of dry yeast 1 pint of chicken stock or other liquid 1 egg 1 tablespoon of milk to brush
Combine the dry ingredients in a large bowl. Dissolve yeast in 1/4 cup warm water and add to liquid. Pour into dry ingredients and mix. Knead for about 3 minutes. The dough will be stiff. Roll dough to 1/4 inch thickness and cut to desired size and shape. Place on baking sheets and bake in a 300ºF. oven for 45 minutes. Turn off heat and leave in oven overnight. They will be bone hard in the morning and dogs love them! |
