In a large saucepan, brown half of the beef cubes in half of the shortening, repeat. Add the onion, cook until tender. Stir in the flour, paprika and 1 teaspoon of salt. Add tomato sauce, tomatoes, and garlic. Cover, simmer over low heat until meat is tender, about 1 1/2 hours. Cook the noodles as directed on package. Drain. Add poppy seed and butter. Serve the Goulash over the noodles. Serves 6 to 8 |
